Gaining Site Engineer Experience

ENKA Engineering College is now providing a new concept in Engineer Training. This will assist students to grasp the basic understanding of what is required to make a good Site Engineer.

Our College is using a virtual reality computer programme to bring another aspect to the Training Course. We are doing this by offering students a chance to physically see what they could do on a real construction site, this will enable them to build any structures with confidence.  If you have not yet gained enough experience on site on all aspects of construction, this will gain you 10 years site experience in only a short time. This teaching technique will be invaluable.

This programme allows students to see, practice and physically build everything that would occur on a real life site. The site engineer very much puts into practice everything he has learnt before even entering a site. We have found that this experience ensures he has the confidence and the knowledge to start putting cages into place/meshing, all aspects of shuttering and re-bars, the pouring of concrete without the Health & Safety implications, and the time taken to site induct students on a real life building site. This in turn saves money and time from both a client and student perspective.

In the past, ENKA have taken students to sites, but this has proved to be unsuccessful because of weather conditions, inductions and stringent Health & Safety guidelines, therefore, not allowing us the required access. Another reason is that we have found most of the tasks have already been completed before we have even arrived on site.  With our expertise, we believe that nobody can gain 10 years experience unless they are working full time in a construction environment.  Enka Engineering College has created a virtual construction site to enable students to learn and achieve site experience, and more importantly, gain confidence in a very short period of time.  The emphasis of this new programme is to allow students to go back over everything that has been covered within the comfort of their home, thoroughly and precisely.

To enable the student to progress into full time employment once the Training Course is completed, the core personnel that would benefit are students who are changing career direction and also Site Engineers, who have not been in the environment of construction for some time. This programme will prove to be invaluable. The emphasis is very much on distance learning before venturing onto the theory and practical side of the exam. It is vitally important that the student revises and carries out the practical element.

This in due course will allow ENKA to “roll out” this unique learning concept to other university or college faculties, interested in employing such advanced learning techniques. This ground breaking training tool will push the skill sets involved in setting out engineering, into a new dimension with a course and interaction, offered by NO OTHER college or University specialising in this field.
